The Landing: A New Era, Same Heart
34,000 of us have made this our soft place to land. Now it has the name it deserves.
Hi, friends!
You might notice something different today. We have a new name.
What was once "Emily Ley's Substack" is now The Landing.
I've been mulling over this change for months, feeling like a new era was upon us. ❤️🔥Wrestling with whether it felt right, whether you'd understand, whether a name even mattered that much. But every time I sat down to write, I kept landing on the same truth: this space has become something bigger than just my name attached to a newsletter.
This is where we land when life feels too heavy to carry alone. Where we arrive when we need someone to say, "Yes, that's hard. Yes, you're not imagining it. Yes, you're not the only one."
Over the past two and a half years, you've shared your stories in the comments. You've told me about your teenagers who won't talk to you, your careers that feel stuck, your marriages that need tending, your dreams that feel too big or too small. You've celebrated wins and mourned losses. You've been honest about the beautiful mess of it all.
This became our soft place to land.
So "The Landing" it is. A threshold between too much and not enough. Between who we've been and who we're becoming. A place where we name what's heavy, what's fantastic, what's lovely, what's reshaping us.
Everything else stays the same. Same weekly essays. Same Sunday Scrolls with links that make you think and Emily's Edit picks that (hopefully) make your life a little easier and a lot more fun. Same commitment to writing what's true about motherhood, ambition, and everything in between — from the lighthearted to the heavy.
At 42, with a son in high school and two more kiddos tip toeing toward middle school, it’s a new era for me — as a writer, as a mother, as a woman. I care deeply about sharing the perfect comfortable pair of jeans and I care deeply about raising good humans. All of this is true here. We hold the day to day with the same hands we hold the small people.
And the truth about this Substack is… we've built something here together. A community of women who refuse to shrink, who are brave enough to name what's real, who understand that life is both harder and more beautiful than we expected.
Welcome to The Landing. It's exactly where we've been all along.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for making this home.
P.S. If you've been thinking about upgrading to a paid subscription, this week feels like the perfect time. Your support makes this space possible and means the world to me.

Our kiddos are the same age, so I feel ya! Our daughter started 9th grade this year + our son started 5th.
I love the name! Love what you write. Well done 👏
