Sunday Scroll #93
Welcome to Chill Mom Summer: midlife hobbies, hair color trends, the best mocktails, + more
Happy Sunday from steamy Lake Oconee!
We’ve had a big week up here at the lake house. We came up here last week and have been slowly settling in. We’re putting blankets on the beds and art on the walls. I’m finding my favorite places to spend time in this house (right now, I’m writing to you from the breakfast nook, something I dreamed up and am thrilled it’s as cozy as I dreamed it would be). I’m learning how to wash that red Georgia clay out of our clothes.
And we’ve also been sending our babies to camp. First Caroline, now the boys. And whew, is it bittersweet.
When I have a lot of feeling I need to process, I did what I usually do: I wrote about it. It’s such a privilege to watch our kids grow up, isn’t it?
Also, I’m learning to play mahjong! That wasn’t on my bucket list this year. But Caroline is playing it at camp, and I want to play with her when she gets back. And, um, it’s kind of hard?? If there are any mahjong players out there, please tell me your best tips in the comments. I am just a 42-year-old woman trying her best!
I’ve got a bundle of summery links for you today. Ready for some scrolling?
Adult hobbies worth trying. Gosh, the life that bad dancing and making friendship bracelets has given me in my 40s. Am I ready to take up bird watching in the woods this summer? Invent a signature omelet? I think so!
Why is everybody talking about creatine? And does it really work? Along with protein, I feel like creatine has come out of nowhere and taken over my algorithm. You too?
On “Chill Mom Summer” and setting intentions. Feeling every word of this in my bones.
Call your colorist—these are the 15 hair colors are trending this summer. #2 is low-key gorgeous.
