Sunday Scroll #133
15 rotisserie chicken ideas, 20 years of marriage wisdom, healing friendships, and a simple rule that eliminates decision fatigue
Good morning, and welcome to the Sunday Scroll! How are you feeling today?
Right now, my heart is feeling so full. All of my kids’ spring breaks lined up (a miracle, and probably the last time it’ll happen for a while), so we hopped on a plane and spent a few snowy days in Aspen. What a vibe! I’m a Florida girl — I don’t think I realized exactly what I was getting ourselves into by booking a trip there. I thought I just picked a cool town. 😂😯 Confession: I was brave enough to go into the Hermès store and bought a beautiful vintage scarf (because anything else would’ve cost, like, as much as taking five people to Aspen) and I think I have a whole new obsession. Cool.
But we loved Aspen! Tubing in the snow was a big hit, as were pain au chocolat and hot chocolate to warm up after. Then we flew back and went to the lake for a couple days. Brady’s got his learner’s permit, so we figured it was time to get him some practice on some quiet country roads.
Y’all. Nothing prepares you for driving behind your firstborn for the first time. I’m just going to leave it at that.
So anyway! I used to scrapbook a lot back in the day, and I’m trying to put down my phone and get into more analog hobbies and decided to pick it back up. It’s so much fun! I made a scrapbook for our family vacations and loved the way it turned out. Why did I stop doing this? I don’t know. But I’m glad to have it back in my life.
Hope you’re feeling rested and recharged for the week ahead. Ready for a scroll?
15 ways to turn a store-bought rotisserie chicken into dinner. I love a rotisserie chicken, but sometimes I need ideas for it beyond “tacos” or “salad.” This should help!
20 things I’ve learned from 20 years of marriage. So many nuggets in this, but it’s hard to top (1) making sure you stay “in like” with each other and (2) you can never have too many bathrooms.
Chronic indecision is anxiety in disguise. It’s me, hi. I tell myself I’m “gathering research.” 🫠 This article not only explains what’s going on in our brains, but how to recognize the pattern and break the loop. It’s hard… but doable.
The simple “one thing” rule I live by. Every word of this. What’s your “one thing” you swear by? Tell me in the comments. (I have so many but my biggest one is: a one-time investment into pumps you can wear forever.)
How We Healed Our Friendship After 3 Years of Silence. Such an important lesson to learn at any age: a little bravery, especially in friendship, goes a long way.
7 ridiculous realities of being a working parent in America. This is spot-on. Come for being seen, stay for ideas on small ways to make it better.
When it all fell apart . . . for the better. Bookmark this for when it’s hard to see “the light of a clear blue morning,” as Dolly says.
A married mother of 2 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, who owns a tiny cabin resort breaks down her finances — in detail. I want to know the details of how people make their lives work. The Home Economics series at The Purse does such a great job of highlighting how different families, at different income levels, make their lives work. I truly don’t find this kind of financial transparency anywhere else.
America says goodbye to the mass market paperback. Remember rifling through these at the grocery store? Your grandmother’s house? Me, too. It’s the end of an era.
The Hill House x Pottery Barn Teen and Hill House x Pottery Barn Kids collections launched this week and they are BEAUTIFUL. I ordered a new quilt and shams for Caroline’s room. The collab includes everything from backpacks to bedding to decor.
Restocked a few go-tos while away on Spring Break this week: this mask from Clarins (it gets cold on your face and is great for depuffing), these scrunchies (soft hold for when I’m sleeping), microfiber hair towel (I swear this cuts blow dry time in half), and finishing gel (my favorite for my manyyyy flyaways) all from Crown Affair. Trying Olaplex No. 6 Bond Smoother to help my hair battle the humidity here in Florida.
Happy Spring to all of us in the Northern Hemisphere! Is your home ready for a refresh? I know mine is — that’s why I’m doing the Spring Simplicity Challenge. Team Simplified’s put together a list of to-dos to help you enjoy your home at its brightest, most refreshed self. (I think that’s what we all want this time of year, right?)

Have a great week!

Scrapbooking is so fun - and thank you for including my marriage advice! It's an ongoing work in progress! ❤️
We have to see your scrapbook! Please share! I would love for this trend to return. Junk journaling has become popular with teens and I think it’s just an updated version of scrapbooking, so maybe scrapbooks will find their way back and inspire a new generation. It seems everything old is new again and people are enjoying nostalgia and craving simpler times and grandma hobbies. I certainly don’t organize my photos into books like I should but this might inspire me to finally do something with all my pictures!
