Good morning, and welcome to Sunday. How are you today?
Honestly, I’ve been up and down this past week. I’m holding a heaviness in my heart for what’s going on in Minnesota and beyond while, at the same time, my heart has been full of joy as we celebrated the twins’ eleventh (!) birthdays.
Talk about a both/and. It’s been quite a trip across the emotional spectrum. Growing up, I never knew how much I’d feel the weight of both/and as an adult. I just try to do the I can with what I have any given day. That’s all any of us can do, really.
I’m happy we’ve turned the calendar to February. There are lots of exciting things coming up for this space, and for Simplified! This is a great time to stay tuned to your inbox — I think you’re going to like what’s coming soon. 📬
Grab a warm cup of something delicious. Let’s go for a scroll.
How to get dinner on the table without losing your sanity. I need this link — not only this week, but all the time. You too? Lots of great ideas in here (including recipes!).
People in other countries often have a higher sense of “mattering” than we do in the US. Here’s why. Since I watched this, I have not stopped thinking about it. Seriously. I have a feeling I’m going to be thinking and journaling about this for a while.
What are some small good things in your life right now? This is the kind of comments section I want to live in. What are mine? Reading, hanging out with kids who are growing into the coolest people, going on pup cup runs with Walter.

It’s normal to feel news fatigue. But if you don’t want to disengage, try this. Good advice here.
Want a skincare item that packs a punch? Say hello to Tretinoin. Here’s how to maximize its benefits. Can confirm: Tretinoin is pretty magical. But remember, as with all skincare: the best results come from consistency, not one-off miracles.
The five o’clock dinner crowd: why are young Americans eating so early? Honestly? Good. 👏 For. 👏 Them. 👏 Reminds me of that clip of Amy Poehler and Gwyneth Paltrow declaring their love for an early reservation. Bedtime = best time.
The Pitt’s Katherine LaNasa (aka Charge Nurse Dana) on the words from Stephen Colbert that helped her weather grief and loss. I LOVE THE PITT! And warm, no-BS Nurse Dana is my favorite character. I couldn’t be more thrilled to see the woman portraying her, Katherine LaNasa, stepping into the most powerful version of herself at this stage in her life, especially after she’s battled cancer and self-doubt. If you click one link this week, let it be this one. She’s a treasure.
The most important things you need to know about tires in 1 minute. Listen, are tires the most boring purchase on the planet? Yes. Is maintaining them fun? Aboslutely not. But in winter, it’s more important than ever to make sure that yours are working well. This is your PSA from Big Dad Energy Emily over here. 😂
PS: I love you, Catherine O’Hara. You are going to be missed.

Have you been cooped up in your house? You deserve some good pajamas. These are truly the softest pajamas ever. (pro tip: these are great gifts for new brides, new moms, or anyone with a birthday or special day coming up)
I love these Our Place pans for many reasons — they’re high quality and so durable. They’re great on the stove, and they’re great to place in the oven to make a giant shepherd’s pie for dinner on a chilly night (another pro tip: pick up some Bob Evans mashed potatoes for the topping in the deli section).
If you have dry winter skin like me (🙋🏻♀️), I think you’re gonna love this body butter. It’s soooo moisturizing, and the citrus scent is perfect. 10/10.
Speaking of consistency over miracles, Team Simplified did a wonderful post on that over at The Simplified Post!

The memes made me laugh!
I can't do early dinners, especially since my children have goûter at 4.30-5.30pm. Our dinners are usually at 7pm which I think is early enough by French standards! 😝
This felt like the coziest kind of catch-up with a friend. The way you hold both/and alongside practical, comforting links is such a gift. I left this scroll feeling lighter, more grounded, and very ready for soft pajamas and an early dinner.
