Good morning, and Happy Sunday!
Whew, this last week was a doozy, wasn’t it? I bet yours looked similar to mine: I wrapped up the last of our 2025 tasks and “Let’s circle back to this in the New Year” emails, did my annual Christmas Errands Day, checked all my holiday to-do lists, placed last-minute gift and grocery orders, tackled mounds and mounds of wrapping while I listened to my favorite Christmas playlist. And I have come to one conclusion.
Every year, like clockwork, this is when I hit Christmas Overstimulation. As much as I know it’s coming, as much as I plan for it, that creeping feeling of, I wish I didn’t have to do all of this, washes over me. But this week, I know that feeling is going to ebb away and be replaced with the best part of the season: just enjoying some slow days with my people.
I don’t care about the stuff. I don’t care about the food (I mean, okay, I love Christmas Eve snack dinner — but there’s a reason it’s “snack dinner” and not “fancy elaborate dinner,” because we love a low-effort situation right about now!!). All I really care about is seeing my kids enjoy the holiday while Bryan and I have a cup of coffee with my parents. I am so grateful this is what’s in my planner for the week.
So for today’s Scroll, we’re not doing in-depth essays. That’s for Future Us, when our nervous systems are a bit more regulated! Today we’re all about Small Bursts of Joy. Because that’s the other part of the season I love: the joy (and absurdity!) we share with each other.
Ready for a Pre-Christmas Scroll? 🎄
The “Gold Squad” making the holiday travel less stressful. Okay, imagine you walked into the airport and felt your stress melt away as you were swarmed by Golden Retrievers. I’d probably cry from happiness, tbh. 🥹
This week? We’re doing Assembly Meals. Here’s one of my favorites for feeding a crowd. PS: why is this $2 barbecue sauce so good??
4 PM in summer vs 4 PM in winter. The accuracy of this!
Millennials: right now at Old Navy, you can transform your man into your heartthrob of choice from Boy Meets World. Unhinged? Yes. Wildly accurate? Also yes!!! (And confirms 90s fashion is 100-percent back)
