Hello, and welcome to the Sunday before Thanksgiving week (!!). How many grocery orders will I place before next Thursday? We’ll see!

I know this week is always bananas. It seems like this is the last week of, like, “regular” life before we all enter “let’s circle back on this in January!” mode. We can’t get away with that just yet, can we? There always seem to be lots of loose ends to tie up this week. So I want to remind you to take it easy on yourself wherever you can. Use paper plates. Order in food, or heat up the emergency pizza you keep in the freezer. If you’re hosting a gathering, don’t feel like you have to clean every nook and cranny—just clean wherever your guests will be, and wherever they aren’t? Just shut the door! Do whatever you can to take a little pressure off.

I’m starting to make my Thanksgiving menu and grocery list. If you’re searching for a dessert recipe, here’s one that’s so delicious and so easy that even I can make: Bryan’s mom’s pumpkin pie recipe. Her secret ingredient? A pinch of all spice—it adds a little zip and wakes everything up! (PS: If a recipe is in a binder, chances are it’s legit, am I right? 😂)

Ready for a scroll? Let’s go!

  1. “2026 is the year we go…” Tbh we’ve talked about this a LOT at Simplified—and couldn’t be happier about it.

  2. Birdwatching is having a moment—and we need to talk about it. The older I’ve grown, the more I’ve enjoyed spotting birds. I thought I was just . . . getting old, but it turns out birdwatching is more popular than ever! (PS: this video of the Buffalo Bills players talking about birding is everything)

  3. Tips for perfect orange holiday garland. Okay, I feel like I could do this and it wouldn’t be that hard?? (Also, can you believe this lasts for YEARS?)

  4. Get out of the house: why leaving home is both the secret to living small and building community. A good reminder when you’re feeling like something’s missing, but you can’t quite put your finger on it.
