Sunday Scroll #106
Bake-Off BTS magic, the Ultimate Fall Reading Guide, soup season, and the perfect Halloween candy bucket
Good morning, and Happy Sunday! How are you doing?
I am… here. 🤣 Last week was kind of a roller coaster, tbh. This is how it started:
Easy, breezy Fall Girl era. Channeling Kathleen Kelly in You’ve Got Mail with a sprinkle of Lorelai Gilmore walking with Rory through the New England fall foliage.
This is how I ended last week 😵💫:
allergic redness and bruises on my face after surgery
showed up to my annual OB/GYN appointment… two weeks early
forgot to my pack child’s lunch and had to race to Circle K to buy him a Lunchable and Gatorade
tried to run my business via Apple CarPlay
Um, yeah, it’s going great over here. 🎢🫠
If you love The Great British Bake-Off, I think your’e going to love this behind-the-scenes look inside the tent. It’s fascinating to see how it all works!
Are you in a busy season? Same, girl, same. The Lazy Genius tell us five things to avoid when planning a busy season, and every single point she makes is gold. Always listen to Kendra.
I bookmarked this list Ultimate Fall Reading Guide curated by an Austin librarian so fast!
Not gonna lie, as a Type-A Enneagram 3, this essay made me feel some things: Discomfort is the price you pay to live a fulfilling life. Sometimes I make my boundaries a little too strong. I grip my routine too tightly and exchange that for connection with others, which sometimes isn’t convenient, or taking a risk, which is so scary. But as our girl TS wrote, “If you never bleed, you’re never gonna grow.”
Do I want to take a road trip to check out some of the 15 most colorful small towns in America? Why, yes. Yes, I do. Have y’all visited any of these?
It’s soup season. You know I love it (I will sing the praises of this perfect soup forever, and I will never stop linking it, you’re welcome). Why is soup so healing? I don’t know. But I *do* know I love hearing about the different life-changing soups people love. That’s weirdly healing, too. What’s your favorite recipe? Tell me in the comments. For real, I want to know!
If you try to talk to me from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, I will be nearly asleep. You too? This is why we crash out in the afternoon… and how to perk up your circadian rhythm.
I am here for all your life hacks. Every single one. Bonus points if it’s from your therapist. Which is why I was here for this therapist’s secret to thriving in midlife. And I can attest it is 100% true. Even if it’s 0% fun .
Are you a craft person? This adorable ghost wreath makes me wish I was. Theoretically it looks easy to make?? (until I try my hand at it, anyway)
However, I *am* 100% going to crush hoodie and leggings season, thank you for asking. 🤣
Getting into that fall feeling…

I’ve found my new Halloween candy bucket. 10/10, no notes.
An appreciation post for these boxwood wreaths that always look nice on our French front doors.
YOU GUYS. This Lola blanket is the SOFTEST blanket ever! Perfect for cozying up with during the chilly fall nights (or when you live in Florida and fake fall by turning the thermostat down to 65).
🚨 Psst: I started a new thing! Every week I share a few of my favorite things in Emily’s Edit, which I love. But I have so many other things I want to share: Movies! TV! Books! Recipes! Other Substacks I’m obsessed with!
SO, I’ve decided to make a BIG Emily’s Edit every single month for both Free and Paid subscribers. This was so much fun to put together, I can’t believe it took me so long to share something like this! (but don’t worry—if you like the small edits in the Sunday Scroll, paid subscribers will still get those every week!)
Hope you love it!
ALSO, I got an upper blepharoplasty after years of thinking about it. Cost, recovery, before and after, all the details—I’ve gave you all the details in this post.
Tbh, I love talking about the stuff we think about but don't often talk about. :) You can love yourself exactly as you are AND make small changes that feel right. Your aging is yours.
Have a great week, you guys!

One of my favorite ways to start the week. The lazy genius is one of my favorite podcasters. She always has great advice! Thanks for sharing! Happy Sunday!
