How we taught our kids a planning system that actually works
The strategy that got our freshman focused (and works for our fifth graders too)
Brady started high school last week, and I'm not going to lie — I had some feelings about it. Not just the nostalgic "where did the time go" feelings (though those were there too), but the very practical "oh dear God, please don't let him crash and burn" feelings that come when your kid had a case of eighth grade senioritis that lasted approximately six months.
Bryan and I knew we needed a game plan with B as we started this new chapter. Not just the "you better get your act together" speech (though that happened too), but a real strategy. Because here's what I've learned after years in the productivity space: you can have the most beautiful, perfect system in the world, but if your head's not in the right place, that gorgeous planner isn’t going to work for you.
At Simplified, we've always known this. That's why we used to do extensive Facebook Lives before every launch. These days, you can find all that goodness in our podcast archive, the coaching library, and in The Simplified Post.
But here's the thing about fourteen-year-old boys: they don't want to watch videos of their mom talking about productivity. Shocking, I know. 😏
So we called in reinforcements.
